Upcoming traffic restrictions on the Tyne Bridge from January to February

As we gear up for the refurbishment works on the Tyne Bridge, we are doing some advance works which will require lane restrictions or closures on the Tyne Bridge.

These include:

Friday 19th January to Friday 16th February

• Lane closure on City Road southbound on-slip.

• All traffic to use bus lane.

• Top of Heath Court / Manor Chare closed.

Monday 22nd January

• City Road southbound on-slip closed overnight 22:00 – 06:00 (Network Rail bridge repairs).

Wednesday 24th January and Thursday 25th January

• Overnight closure 20:00 to 06:00.

• Northbound full closure - diversion in place.

• One southbound lane open.

Monday 29th January to Friday 1st March(5 weeks - Monday to Friday)

• Daytime lane closures, off peak 9:30 to 15:30, contraflow with one traffic lane open in each direction.

• One footway open.

Until 2025

• Lane closure on Bottle Bank, Gateshead
